I wanted to give an update on Living Free with what has been going on and the upcoming events. We have been VERY busy during the summer. I believe this summer has been the busiest one ever!
We had a successful banquet in April that prepared us for the summer months. We had a very effective “Connect to Hope” weekend at East Booneville in August. At Dennis Church we have kicked off a new support group, which was a result of a Living Free training we held there. We have spoken in churches almost every Sunday. We now meet with both East Booneville and County Line once a month carrying the church through Stepping into Freedom, which is a Christ-centered 12 Step program. All of those activities are in addition to our regular weekly meetings and meals that we host at the Living Free building. You can see we have been very active in our community this summer!
We have the privilege of meeting people who are down, lost, wandering, homeless, lonely, in the depths of despair, crushed in spirit, and just in need of some direction. Your support allows us to meet people where they are and fill in the gaps for these hurting people, and we love that we are able to do this daily.
As we move into the fall and the upcoming holiday season, our schedule is completely booked through the end of November. We will be traveling to Abingdon, VA this week to share at “Tri-Cities Recovery”, which serves a large group of people in that area. Then we are attending Living Free training conferences, also in Abingdon, VA, in October.
As for events in Corinth, on October 17 our friends from Grace Chapel at Pickwick will be us to share. Rodney Williams from “Club Meth to Christ” will be with us on October 24. Then on November 21, we will have our annual “Night of Hope”, which is the biggest meeting of the year for us. Our friends from Chewalla Baptist will furnish a Thanksgiving meal for us that night – and we look forward to this all year!
I wanted to get these dates out to you early so you could be a part of these special nights. I promise you that you will want to attend!
The summer time is always rough on the budget, but the Lord has brought us through once again! I praise Him for that. The months of September, October, and November will also be a challenge with our September budget down about $10,000 already. Our debt is about $12,000 for the entire year, so I’m asking that you pray about helping in some way. Last year our “Night of Hope” was the biggest week of giving ever, and we will be setting a goal soon for that.
We have had several churches join us this year in giving monthly, and some have been preparing meals for our Monday and Thursday night meetings. This kind of giving is big for us as it helps our budget, plus it allows the church to come and be a part of what we are doing in the community.
We are in the schools, jails, churches, and out in the community every day, so I am the most blessed guy walking. I am so grateful for what we get to do. I often tell folks that the business side of Living Free is the hardest thing we have to deal with, but the Lord has been faithful for 15 years now. Some goals for the future are to have a residential program, a business manager, campus manager, and definitely to continue reaching every hurting person possible in our community.
Don’t forget…Christmas Day meal is com
