2017 has come and gone. It was a year in which God used Living Free in the life of so many hurting people. New support groups in the local churches, groups in the prison, the “Doing Life” program, the “Night of Hope”, and the Christmas Day Meal are just some of the ways He used to reach so many. Your giving this year allowed these events to take place. We want to say “Thank You” for being a vital part of Living Free.
Our weekly meetings have become even more of a time of recovery and breakthrough for so many. Also, our dinner program fed almost 12,000 folks this year with almost 1000 being fed on Christmas day. We were allowed to feed our friends at the Alcorn County Justice Center that day; almost 450 inmates got a Christmas Day meal because of this effort (Matthew 25 35-36). We helped more folks this year with direction on how to get into residential programs such as the Home of Grace.
Almost daily we are giving information, giving direction, or simply sitting with folks that need to be in programs.
No doubt, as Living Free continues to use the Word of God and lean on His Spirit for direction, He will enlarge our boundaries and that really is exciting. When we started Living Free in February of 2005, we had no idea what God was up to. Still today we stand at amazed at what all He is doing. He’s using ordinary (maybe unordinary) folks to share HOPE with so many (Luke 4:18).
2018 will bring more challenges than any year before just because of the crystal meth problem in our world. This drug is destroying neighborhoods and communities. The growing number of families that are trying to survive without two parents in the house continues to be a major problem. Countless kids are growing up with a dad in prison, or simply not knowing their dads. This factor will produce more anger and pain in our school system and will produce drug problems for many at a younger age. We are living in a dark world, but Living Free is committed to bring light to this world with a guy named JESUS.
Please pray about how you, your family, or your church can help Living Free in 2018. We need our budget to grow, we need help with kids on Monday nights, and we need our team to expand. The biggest thing I need personally and for Living Free is that we learn how to trust HIM even more.
Thank you for being a part of Living Free.
